Take Action today! Don’t let Congress raise your fuel bill.  Tell Senator Bennet and Udall at to vote against cap and trade legislation in any form.  Visit www.ntu.org to share your opinions with Senator Udall and Bennet.

In the coming months Senator Bennet and Udall will be debating and voting on the Waxman-Markey and Kerry-Boxer cap and trade energy bills.  While most people in Colorado appreciate Congress’ intent to address green house gasses, most Coloradoans believe that this legislation will have a devastating effect on our economy and do more harm than good.

Analysts predict this bill will dramatically increase the cost of fuels citizens and businesses use every day.  As a result, the financial burden on the Colorado consumer will undoubtedly grow as the prices for natural gas, electricity, gasoline, diesel and home heating oil rise.  This will impact jobs, stifle economic growth and mean less money in our pockets.

Senator Bennet and Udall need to take a hard look at the numerous consequences of operating a trading program like the one proposed.  House Democrats claim this bill won’t pinch wallets but they are ignoring the hard facts that this program could cost our country 2 million jobs by 2030 and reduce national GDP roughly $350 billon below the baseline level. Coloradoans will be forced to tighten their purse strings even more whether your colleagues in the House want to believe it or not.

Colorado and our country are suffering from one of the worse economic recessions since the Great Depression.  Frankly, it is just financially irresponsible to consider legislation that would impose the biggest tax hike in American history when so many people and businesses are already struggling to make ends meet.  Our country and Colorado simply cannot afford to take this gamble at this time.

Please vote against cap and trade legislation in any form.  Visit www.ntu.org to share your opinions with Senator Udall and Bennet.
